Teadust Glazed Vase,Origin: China,Period: ca.19th century, Qing Dynasty,7-3/4" tall,4-3/8" diameter (at belly);Chinese "Tea dust" glazed vase, ca.19th century. The 18th century was a great period for Chinese arts. During this century, China was governed by the reigns of Kangxi (1662-1722),Yongzheng (1723-1735), and Qianlong (1735-1796). Yongzheng's Imperial kins at Jingdezhen, under appointed director Neinxi-yao produced many famous monochromes including "robins-egg blue" and "tea dust." The later, tea dust, was produced by a combination of green enamel on a yellow-brown ground in an oxygen reducing fire. Tea dust glazed ware were so prized that these wares were restricted BY LAW to the emperor alone! This vase stands proudly with a stout sturdy form reminiscent of Song dynasty ware. The mouth is widely flaring with a long, wide neck that melds into the bodies broad belly which curls under to a tall splayed foot. This tea dust glaze is lustrous with a fine powdery green-yellow dusting on top of a rich dark brown and amber yellow ground. We attribute this vase as 19th century. The entire vase is finely glazed with exception to the foot rim.Condition Consensus: Excellent Condition, museum quality, without any damage or repair. Click for Price @ GoAntiques.com
