Victorian CDV. Group Portrait Of Women And Men With Dog In Garden. Late 1800s.

Victorian photograph, CDV (cartes-de-visite), circa late 1800s, of a group of women and men in a garden with a dog. One man is reading from a large book. The dog is large and appears to be some type of retriever or working dog. Only idenitifcation on the card is "England", which is handwritten on the back. These cards became popular in the mid-1850s. They were the size of a visiting card, whichÂ--in large part due to Napoleon III's visit to Disdéri's studioÂ--became enormously popular and were traded among friends and visitors. Back has some soiling. Front of card has some spotting, in Very Good condition.
