This exquisite 8 bottle cruet was made of Old Sheffield Plate (OSP)in Birmingham, England, circa 1794 and sponsored by Matthew Boulton. The 9" square base has an ornate handle, trim and four decorated feet. The distinctive sponsor's marks appear on the bottom. The cut glass bottles include one with a silver top with holes, four shorter bottles with glass stoppers - one of which has a tiny spoon attached to the stopper, two taller bottles with glass stoppers and one cut glass pot with lid that has silver trim. The hallmarks on the silver trim are an anchor for Birmingham, lion passant for sterling, the letter "W" for 1794, duty mark and "MB" for Matthew Boulton.
