How Green is Your Town?

Over the years, I have worked to build houses and communities, serving as a Peace Corps volunteer in Panama and later launching my own remodeling business and TV productions. I've been actively involved with Habitat for Humanity and helped them blitz build a house in Yonkers, NY, which we put on TV.

I’m always on the lookout for innovation — especially when it comes to home building and going green. So I was delighted to discover GreenTowns.com, a new site that will connect and celebrate green initiatives and their leaders, both locally and across the country.

On GreenTowns.com, you can submit your favorite green initiatives, by location; find sustainability programs near you; and search by category to find out about successful programs related to your particular interest, such as green buildings, local food, and water conservation. You can also connect with advisors who will be there to answer questions and with supporters of specific green initiatives.

I’ll be an expert advisor in the building category on GreenTowns.com, answering your most pressing green building questions.  I’ve shared three of my original building green videos with this new site — an affordable, healthy green building in the South Bronx, NY; a Georgian Colonial house in Westchester that replaced the original mold-infested home with the latest green technologies; and an earth-bermed house made of salvaged materials in upstate New York. In these three homes, styles and materials from the past are embraced while incorporating the newest sustainable solutions.
