MyLowe’s: Managing DIY Projects and Dreams

myLowes Key FOB Bob Vila

This is a test: What type of filter does your furnace or air conditioner require?  What is the paint color of your living room walls?  What is the finish of that paint—is it eggshell, semi-gloss, satin, flat or high gloss?  What is the square footage of your kitchen?  Your bathroom?  Where is the warranty for your refrigerator or the owner’s manual for your Kobalt circular saw?  What size light bulb does your ceiling fan require?  How many bulbs does it need?

Such household details are not meant to remain top-of-mind.  But when you are shopping to replace that air filter, or pick up another gallon of that living room color, or find a new blade for that circular saw, these details become paramount.

One of the best introductions at Lowe’s this fall may well be its innovative home management platform, MyLowe’s—an online service designed to help customers manage their projects, purchases and home improvement dreams in a more practical and serviceable way.

By registering at MyLowes.com, Lowe’s customers can create a personalized home profile, monitor purchases made in-store and online, upload floor dimension measurements, maintain paint formula tracking, and file product manuals and warranties. It also enables users to create shopping lists accessible during their next store visit. It can even remind them about air filters and other regularly purchased products. With the swipe of a keychain FOB at checkout, all purchases are recorded and updated automatically.

In addition to providing a valuable service to consumers, Lowe’s believes the online management tool will improve customer service also, since sales associates will be able to access information to better assist in product recommendations and advice.

The launch of MyLowe’s on Monday is not entirely coincidental, as it dovetails with the company’s new brand strategy, “Never Stop Improving.”  According to Lowe’s Katie Cody, “[myLowe's] is part of our commitment to never stop improving our customer service, our business and our communities.”
