With all of the emphasis on outdoor living, it comes as no surprise that products to decorate gardens, patios, decks and porches are becoming more popular and ever more styled.
Leading suppliers of garden decor, decorative accessories, and outdoor furniture presented a wide variety of attractive options at last week’s New York International Gift Fair in New York City. New styles range from crisp and clean contemporary to weathered and rustic. Here’s a sampling of the latest looks:
Denmark-based Eva Solo offered a unique and sophisticated statement with its new bird feeder, a sculptural piece created by the world-renowned duo of Claus Jensen and Henrik Holbæk. The feeder features soft, curving lines in white steel. Standing and hanging versions are both available; suggested retail pricing ranges from $99 to $119.
No room to install an outdoor fireplace? No problem! Anywhere Fireplace offers tabletop, floor-standing, and wall-mounted fireplaces that use clean-burning bio-ethanol fuel. Since they don’t require special venting or installation, these can be used on porches and patios—even indoors. Suggested retail pricing ranging from $120 to $400.
Woodstock Chimes previewed several new items. Rainbow Makers, for one, are handcrafted from genuine Austrian crystals in both colored and clear versions ($9-$44). The Prairie Jasper Chime can boast bronze anodized aluminum tubes, teak finished ash wood, and a wind-catcher of actual Prairie Jasper stone ($27). And finally, a collection of Feng Shui chimes represents the elements of wood, fire, metal and water. Each is distinguished with a specific colored stone and Chinese character ($20 apiece).
Three Birds Casual, makers of fashionable, high-quality teak outdoor furniture, showcased the Monterey Deep Seat Armchair with Ottoman ($1,330 and $580 respectively) as well as a beautiful Riviera Folding Chair ($490).
A number of suppliers showed off handsome aged or weathered decor. SKALNY, a division of the Willow Group Ltd., impressed with its glazed terra cotta ceramic urns. The urns are available in six different styles; suggested retail pricing ranges from $139 to $170.
Campo de Fiori, creators of naturally-aged garden décor, introduced a number of planters and wall plaques, along with a lovely cast mesquite garden bench (suggested retail price, $875).
