According to the US Green Building Council, more than twenty thousand homes have been LEED certified, and there are eighty thousand more in the pipeline, despite the recession!

LEED, or leadership in energy and environmental design, is a set of green building standards that help you determine if the home you’re building or buying is sustainable and healthy.
Homes are rated for energy efficiency, use of nontoxic materials, site orientation and site management, responsible landscaping and indoor air quality. Up until now, it was up to the consumers to dig up green materials and educate their builders about what they wanted. With LEED, that’s all done for you.
LEED-certified homes are designed to be healthier, safer, and cheaper for the people who live in them. That makes them last longer, pollute less, and retain their value better, which is the true definition of sustainable building… and most qualify for tax rebates and zoning allowances to boot.
