Storm Cottage by Feanor Hay
By Inthralld on Feb 04, 2013

The "Storm Cottage" from Feanor Hay is the perfect place to take shelter during one of New Zealand’s rainy days. Though it’s simply a dark timber box on the exterior, there’s more than meets the eye on so many levels.
The rectangular space is sustained completely off of the grid—solar panels take care of electricity and all of that storm water is harvested and stored. The structure itself has one full side of glazed panels that open up to the sea views, and, when necessary, metal screens cover the front facade to protect against the elements. The perfect place to engage with, and take refuge from, mother nature.
