Sagebrush Window Baskets
By Creatively Living on Oct 09, 2012
Day #9 in the 31 Days of Thrifty Fall Decor series.
Today’s Topic: Sagebrush Window Baskets
This little playhouse can be a sad little playhouse.
It sits on the side of our yard, and is cast the roll of “storage playhouse”, housing our toys, hoses and sprinklers.
Last summer I gave it a little updating and added some fake flowers…..I know, (gasp)!
Here’s what they are looking like a year and a half later.
Just for the record, I’m not a fake flower fan.
It is just that I live in the desert, and the thought of dragging a hose out to the playhouse to water real flowers everyday sounded overwhelming on top of all the other things I had to do. I figured people really only saw the playhouse at a distance, and the kids that played in it wouldn’t care.
So it sat, and sat with faded, fake flowers for months…..
and now that it’s fall, and we’re selling the house, and I decided to finally “spruce up” that playhouse,
I had to decided what to do with those flower baskets.
I even looked for more “fake-ness” at the Dollar Store….
Maybe some fake leaves, or fake grasses….or something that I wouldn’t have to water and pay much for.
Then it dawned on me.
After collecting some sagebrush for my Sagebrush Basket post on Day #4,
I could add sagebrush to the flower baskets, for free, and it wouldn’t look “fake”!
So, that’s what I did, and I couldn’t be more happy with it.
It’s colorful and fall-ish, dries nicely and didn’t cost me a dime!
Are you doing anything “fall-ish” to your window boxes this year?
