Great Spaces: Bubble House
By Deluxe on Feb 26, 2013
Don't you just love it? The Bubble House, or Palais Bulles, is located near Cannes, on the French Riviera. Designed by architect Annti Lovag, it was sold to fashion designer Pierre Cardin in 1989. Cardin worked with the architect to add to the sprawling estate per the wishes stated in the will of the previous owner, creating an outstanding example of biomorphic architecture.
This unusual conceptual home includes a 500-seat lecture hall, a reception room, a panoramic lounge, and 10 suites. Pools and gardens extend over two acres of land perched on the red cliffs of the Cote d'Azur, with stunning views of the Mediterranean below.
The Bubble House is often used as a backdrop for photo shoots and events, in addition to serving as Cardin's residence. Freshly added to my wish list, the book Le Palais Bulles: The Architectural Folly of Pierre Cardin offers more information and photos about this fascinating place. Also on my wish list, an invitation to an event held at Le Palais Bulles. Any time, Mr. Cardin... I'll be checking my mailbox.
