Holy Crap Our Rug Is Amazing
By Picardy Project on Apr 09, 2012
The TV Room will need a rug and I took it upon myself to visit Rugsusa.com, overstock.com and any other rug website my typing fingers could find for a couple weeks. I found some that I liked, but none were really catching my eye. Then about 10 days ago between rugsusa and overstock I found 6 that I really liked and I sent them along to Chris. As usual, he whittled them down to 3 he liked and sent them back to me. Ideally we would have used a rug that was 6'6" x 8', but, well, they don't come in that size. I found a couple that were 6' x 9' but that seemed to be an uncommon size as well, and there weren't any that I liked. So it pretty much came down to 5' x 8' or 7'6" x 9'6" and that 9+ feet was just not going to work for the length of the room. Instead, the rugs I settled on were 5' x 8'. That size might be a tad too skinny, but I'd rather have that than it basically spread from wall to wall.
But back to the rugs. So Chris sent me the 3 he liked best
This one
This one
(both Chris and I really like Paisley)
And this one
The 3rd was my absolute favorite (I sent the link to Chris with "Love" written next to it). So I was really excited that he liked it too. It was also, of course, the most expensive. But not by too much. And I found a coupon so our entire purchase with tax and shipping was $240, which I didn't think was terrible for a 5' x 8' wool rug.
Shipping only took a week and it arrived on our doorstep Friday morning after I came back from a run. I brought it inside and couldn't wait to open it up I was stinky and sweaty, but I brought out the scissors because I couldn't wait to take a shower first and then open it. I gotta tell you, when I peeled away the corner and got this much open...
...I freaked out a little bit. I just had a total brain fart and didn't remember how many colors were in it and I got scared that it was too circus-y. But I ripped open all the plastic and rolled it all out and gasped at it's amazing-ness
I was SOOOOO excited. There may have been leaping, little squeals of joy and my famous seal clap (as Chris calls it) that I do when I get excited (and my family makes fun of me about)
I rolled it all out and lined it up how it will fit in the room. I do wish it was about a foot wider, but it will shift about 6-9" over to the left when the room is done because I want a walkway - without a rug partially in the way - from the entrance into the room by the front door to the hallway straight ahead. But sometimes you gotta work with what you got.
The best part of all, it looks so awesome with the wall color And the green and grays in it tie in the color schemes of the kitchen and front room which is great because all the rooms are open to each other.
I love it. And Chris loves it too I now cannot wait until the floors are done and we can move it into the room to stay. Yeeeee!!!!
