The Incredible One-Square-Meter Home You Have to See to Believe
By Inthralld on Apr 29, 2013
Who would have thought that people could actually live in a home that is only 1 square meter (just under 11 square feet)? With a philosophy that “Everybody should have their own house, with a window and a door. And it should stand wherever you want,” Le-Mentzel created the One SQM House.
The square meter of space is at the bottom (so it doesn’t include the vertical space); but the makeshift home has wheels and can be towed along with you through to train stations and carried along on the go. To work as a nap shelter of sorts, a small business or lo and behold: a home. Fitting in with Van Bo’s vision of setting up shop wherever you please, there are several Berlin based hostels that rent out lawn space for a euro each night.
The best part about the One SQM house? You can build it out yourself.
