Collapsible Log Chair Takes Upcycling to the Extreme

Waste Less Timber Log Collapsible Chair (6)

Reuse, reduce, recycle– that’s what we’re taught. So with so much of our building materials causing excess waste from our forests and beyond, Architecture Uncomfortable Workshop found a way to help alleviate that. Their “Waste Less” chair is a prime example of crafting a unique piece of furniture that utilizes materials that would otherwise be deemed useless.

The compact design of the chair comes from the leftovers of timber that has been cut down to make wood beams to build structures. The excess pieces from this process are left with the outer shell of bark for a rustic edge, while the various pieces are joined together with iron treads. There are two varied options for the seat when unfolded– as a simple chair, or a recliner style seat with footrest. Once closed it just looks like your average log.
