Ignore that old box altogether! Just cover the ends of the wires, and shove them back into the old box, and leave it be.

Connect your track lights to the newer box, where there were wires that you know provide power, and that you know are on an appropriate breaker.

Even if this means you may have to run a short piece of track or surface molding from that box to your new track lights. That will be much easier to do than to try to figure out where the other end of those wires in the old box are, and to get power to them. And safer, too -- those wires may also go further to other covered over boxes somewhere else in the house, and you don't know what may be connected in those boxes.

Trying to re-use abandoned wires in a house is almost never worth the trouble & aggravation.
