+I have a 2 - 2 1/2 over 12" pitch roof that is an addition to our existing house. After 1 year of constant leaks, our builder has agreed to repace the metal roof (over that section) with a Rubber Roof. My question is this -- Is Rubber better than dimensional shingles ? ? ? We have split decisions from roofers. I am looking for a durable and long lasting roof above all else --- thanks

shingles should not be installed at less than a 3/12 pitch.
But a metal roof can be installed at 2/12 and not leak if done properly.
That suggests that his skills might be in question, or that the real leak is in the old oof and emmigrating to the location of the new added roof, in which case a new cover will not help either.
Also, ruber is a generic term that has come to be applied to two different kinds of roof membrane. One is torched down and not appropriate for residences IMO. It is uglier and the use of the torch has been responsible for many house fires. EPDM rubber membrane is a good choice, but if he has never installed it before, I would be very wary.
Excellence is its own reward!
