Why do i have to use same siding on my house?

I am currently expanding my home. I need to put siding on the extension. I was wondering why i need to use the same siding on the extension as on my original house. Any feedback would be GREATLY appreciated. Thanks.

Dude, I don't care if your house wears pajamas. What makes you think siding should match? I have seen a number of artistic shantys that, aesthetics aside, were very functional. Good luck, and do what makes you happy.
