Does anyone have any advice on if renters insurance is a good deal? whats the probability of something actually happening and do they cover most things (burgulary, natural disasters, etc)

I always had it when we rented. The answer to what it actually covers (and what it doesn't cover) would be in the wording of the policy. You have to read it.

We always had it but only because it was required by our lease. We got ours through State Farm and chose the minimal coverage because we frankly didn't have much to replace. It wasn't that expensive but we had a $500 deductible.
