Need advice on how to go about screening the eave vents on our home. Original was tacked on the inside which we can't do now. Thought about using 1x3s in 22.25" lengths and drilling holes, but don't think it would provide enough airflow. The opening is actually only about 1" in height. Tried using a Glavanized Eave Vent, but it doesn't fit cleanly and don't know if paint would cover cleanly. Could use some suggestions. A photo is attached.

Thanks in advance!

We had terrible damage to our roof and vents this summer from storms and I'm still trying to find someone in the Boston area to fix it.

First step you want to measure insight height and hole size to be modified based on our requirements.then fix the opening height for installation.
