I measured the base of house --how do I calculate the added feet for the pitch of a gable 6/12? Don't suggest I measure it because I don't want to climb on top of the roof.

on a 6/12, the diagonal is 13.42 inches for every foot of horizontal run. Then add for overhang and waste at end cuts.
I guess I should apologize for being the smart Alec who suggested measuring it, but I couldn't concieve of somebody who might be needing to know who could not get up there with a tape. I mean, once you buy it, you still have to get up to install, right?
