Do I have to prime before I paint asbestos siding? I have read 100's of articles and posts about the dangers of asbestos siding. They all discuss the safety hazards and precautions but I want to know if it is necessary to prime before painting over old siding. The siding is in good shape, clean, and original , over 40 years old. If so oil based primer, latex , or oil based paint?
