Our house was built in 1986 with Masonite Siding. I received a very small payment from the class action suit. Apparently, no one stocks this product anymore for obvious reasons. I have a few places that are bad, but the majority of the siding appears to be in good shape and only needs repainting. The estimates I have received to tear down and replace with Hardie Plank seem to be rather high. My question is this: If I "bite the bullet" and have the entire house resided, will this help me on my investment dollar for dollar? Is this what most people in my situation are doing. Thanks very much!

If you have only a few areas that are bad I would just replace that and you should be able to find a siding that is very close to yours as they still make hardboard siding which is what Masonite is.
