I recently discovered my 15 yr + roof is Masonite. Living in CO (relatively no humidity) I've had no problem with the roof. The edges are starting to curl a little and my remodeling contractor feels I should "treat" it with something though he' never encountered this type of material in a roof application. Do I, can I paint, stain or waterseal the roof to try to prolong it's life?? Widow needs advice--- THANKS!!

It seems that there is a class action lawsuit on this product and you may want to explore that avenue to see if it applies to you.

A house we're interested in has masonite roofing. No leaks yet, roof looks to be in good shape. Should we be worried. Our real estate agent says we should plan on re-roofing soon. Does masonite fail in a different way than fiberglass shingles that we should be worried about?
