Hello, I am DESPERATELY looking for advice, please help me determine what needs to be done to get my new bought red cedar home in tip-top shape. This house is 19 years old and it needs to have all the stains/paints, etc...removed because it's peeling.

How and with what product do I remove the old products?

How to determine what type of wood planks needs to be purchased to replace the ones that are damaged?

Can you recommend a supplier in Eastern Canada, and also a contractor??

Thank you so much for your help!!

It sounds like a lot of work. How much does need refinishing? If it's a small % there are 2 ways but they both involve lots of labor.

Scraping and wire brushing.

Or apply paint stripper, let sit then do the above; Scrape and wire brush.

Before apply new finish make sure to clean the paint stripper really well with paint thinner.

Your biggest issue is that vertical siding wich is designed for warm dry climates. You`re in Canada and will never keep the weather from getting behind the siding and causeing peeling, rot, growth and prolly warping.
