Is TPO really a superior product to EPDM? What are the pros and cons? This is a mansard roof with drains on roof that empty into pvc pipe that runs through attic and then connects to downspouts.

Yes TPO is better than EPDM, the seams are welded and the membrane is more durable. the color is white which is cooler. The only con to TPO is you must probe the roofs seams to insure the integrity of the welds. If this is for a home you should use IB Membrane, it has a lifetime warranty
I have always recommended TPO roof membrane over other single-ply membranes, such as EPDM.
TPO is the superior membrane, because of it's energy efficiency and durability. This is why major corporations such as Wal-mart have switched to TPO. There are many different types and strengths of TPO's on the market, designed for different purposes. If you have a choice between the two, it would be wise to choose TPO.
