I have a century home with a dirt floor in one section of the basement. My problem is this area is very damp and is covered with loose bricks. I have a dehumidifier going and this seems to help. I want to seal this section and perhaps dig it out to create a little more ceiling height. Is this expensive to do or even feasable?

thanks

Brad

Not long ago I put down a layer of plastic sheeting in the crawl space under my house and I can't believe the difference in humidity level. Before you take on a large expense, you might want to try putting down a layer of plastic under the bricks. It's cheap and easy.
