Bvbasement
I have a walk-out basement with stairs leading down into the basement from the outside. There is a drain on the inside of the basement door right next to the door. During rains, the water runs down the stairs, under the door and into the basement drain. I don't mind the water too much (it's going to bother me if I ever want to finish the basement), but the bugs, that crawl in after the rains, do. Is there any way I can fix this problem myself or am I going to have to call in a contractor to switch the drain to the outside.

The simplest, cheapest solution would be to place a screen over the drain that has mesh smaller than the bugs. The only problem I see with that is that you'll occasionally need to clean the dirt, etc off the screen to keep it from clogging up.
