I put a new lawn in last year and in the fall I noticed a few low spots where water collected. I want to fill these spots in to make them more level. I'm talking about adding 1 or 2 inches. In a few small areas. Can I just put the new soil on top of my lawn? Or do I need to till the new soil into the existing soil? If so, how do I do this - a rototiller? Thanks for the help.

You can sprinkle soil onto the low spots and then with the back of a garden rake, work the soil down between the blades of grass. This is the slow method and works well if the area is not to low. For a fast solution, take a square nosed shovel and cut out a section of the grass (in effect you are creating SOD), fill with dirt until the ground is level, and then put the piece of SOD that was removed back into place.
