My wife and I have a home with a 900 sq ft walk out basesment that we are going to finish. Heating is forced air, currently blowing down form ceiling..

We have had differing opinions from contractors on whether or not we should bring down the existing ceiling heat ducts, so that they are blowing the hot air at floor level. There is about a $400 cost associated with doing this. Is the heat efficiency gain form doing this going to out weigh the cost of doing this? Are there any other reasons to bring down duct work?

The problem is circulating heat. Ceiling vents will probably cause a pool of warm air near the ceiling and cold air at the floor. I am currently finishing my basement and am thinking of using a ceiling fan for circulation.

A c\'caged' ceiling fan or two would help a lot & be cheaper. Try: http://www.tbo.com/tampabay/degeorge
