So I have this basement window with a
deep window well. At the bottom of the
window well there is some drain tile
(I figure to drain the window well after
a rain). I have a leaky basement on a
completely different wall from the window.
I'm wondering if the drain tile is crushed
or blocked. I was thinking of running a
garden hose to see if water would flow
from the window to the sump basket, but
now I'm thinking of putting a smoke bomb
into the drain tile be reaching up through
the sump basket, quickly seal the space
between the tile and the basket and then
go see if smoke comes out of the tile in the
window well. If it does I'll know that the
drain tile is in tact.

However, if it does smoke I still won't know
if it was laid properly (low enough, etc.).
And if it doesn't smoke it could just be
because it doesn't connect up to the window.
So I would be able to draw know conclusions
anyway?

I think your first idea was much better.
