My toilet tank started filling very slowly yesterday. It was fine the day before. If I turn the water off with the shutoff valve and turn it back on, it fills up normally again but only that one time, it fills slowly the next time I flush the toilet. Any ideas?
Thanks,
Steve

Debris lodged in the fill valve.

Thanks, can I clean that out or should I replace it? I assume you're talking about the part inside the tank, right?

Sometimes you can clean, but they are less than 10 dollars. If it's a fluidmaster brand they come apart pretty easily to clean.

Larry,
I'll just replace it. It's cheap enough so I won't have to worry about it again.
Thanks,
Steve

Any other ideas on this? I'd hate to replace everything in the tank if that's not the problem.
Thanks,
Steve

" If I turn the water off with the shutoff valve and turn it back on, it fills up normally again but only that one time, it fills slowly the next time I flush the toilet." That really sounds like a fill valve issue,if it's a fluidmaster you might get by with just replacing the seal.
