A rec room was created in the basement of a 1954 ranch house. Former owner was a heavy smoker. We would prefer to work/remodel other parts of the house prior to the basement. Any thoughts on how to THOROUGHLY clean/sanitize the carpet? I'm afraid using a "water vacuum" may not allow the carpet to really dry and cause additional problems.
