I have a crawlspace that ranges from 3 to 4 ft. in height, it has a single beam supported at apprx. 10 ft. intervals by masonry blocks. The problem is that it is a dirt floor, I dont puddle in the space but in spring/summer the dirt becomes damp( not a pleasant smell).
Is there a product ( i.e concrete like) that i can use to "seal" the dirt w/o putting down a subbase? Any help would be great...thanks

You first need to cover the floor with two layers of 6 mil polyethylene construction sheeting laying the layers perpendicular to each other and taping the seams.
This will prevent moisture from entering the crawlspace.
You should then place at least 4 inches of concrete over the plastic. No subbase is required.
Concrete is necessary to keep out burrowing critters but most importantly radon gas, which enters a home primarily thru unfinised dirt floors.
