Hello, we have a new 3-season room with a ceiling fan wired so that the light and fan are on separate 3-way switches.I plan to use the pull-chain for the fan speed operation and the switches to just turn it on and off. I would like to add a dimmer to one of the fan light switches, but the electrician is saying that is not possible. It seems to me that it should be possible. Can you help me understand why this cannot work or if they are just giving me the run-around?

Only if there are separate switches for the light and fan can this be achieved without additional wires.

The dimmer would have to be in the wall, it could not be installed on the fan. Is there an existing wall switch that also turns to fan/ light kit off?
