I am finishing my basement and was wondering what is the best type of ceiling to use....we only have 8 ft ceilings right now before I install anything!!! We want something modern but also something that we can access any pipes or lines above the ceiling if we need to!!! Any suggestions would be great!!!!!

You could finish the ceiling BETWEEN the beams and behind all the pipes and electrical runs. Be, be warned, it is a LOT of work. It would be like installing 40 ceilings because you will need to deal with the edges inside each beam instead of just the four edges at any end of the ceiling.

I did it in my main living room, and it looks phenomenal. But I needed to cut drywall to fit between the beams, seal each joint with joint compound onto the wood, and carefully paint each joint by hand to create a smooth line.
