I have a mr slim mitsubishi electric air conditioner installed in a 2 storey house. model no PUH-6YKSA-A is written on the outdoor unit... When it is very hot inside, does it waste more energy/ money by using the coldest setting on high because it is working harder or is my dad just a massive wanker?

I need some sort of technical explanation as to why it doesnt waste more energy by having it on flat out! Please Help!
If you consider it a waste to be comfortable then turn the dial down. Do you consider use and waste the same thing? Now if the thing isn't maintained properly then I consider that wasteful.If it's running full tilt and it isn't cooling the place down then something is wrong. Is that technical enough for you?
