I live in NW Ohio, in a two story frame home. 1929 sq.ft. The house is vented through sofits and peak vents. I was up in the attic and I noticed that the sheeting on the south side of the roof was all black, looks like wood that has been water damaged. I've noticed on the south side that I can push on the blackend part with a screwdriver and it gives a little. I'm thinking I'm going to be replacing some of the roof and sheeting. The north side looks damn near brand new. We built the house 13 years ago. In the summer, it seems to get extremely hot up there. Would gabel vents help keep the heat and apparent moisture down?
Oh yeah, we got blown in insulation. Appears to be to code.
