Hi,
I have a playroom in my basement that at one point was a two car under garage. There are two lolly columns in the middle of this room supporting a beam. I would like to remove these columns. I have heard that it is possible to sister the beam with steel plates to keep the structural strength.
Does anyone have any experience with removing lolly columns?
Thanks.

You cannot do a thing without engaging the services of an engineer and getting approval from your code office.
It may be possible to remove the support columns but only after a full load evaluation by a professional and professional oversight of the recommended changes.
So hire the engineer or structurally trained architect and follow their advice.

Too true, homebild!
