I am finishing my basement. I am laying berber carpet on top of the concrete floor. How high should the baseboards be installed above the floor level so that the new carpet can be tucked underneath?

Why do you want to install the baseboard on top of the carpet? If you ever change carpeting, you will have to move the baseboard.

Why do you want carpet in the basement? Install epoxy/stone or another seamless, non porous product. Carpet gets dank in basements and harbors mold and bacteria.

gernblanston, Hi.What I did was use a 1/2" piece of drywall to set the baseboard on as I installed it.Actually you'll need 2 or 3 pieces to set the entire length of the baseboard on. The carpet layers were very happy for the space provided for them.
