I don't know what to do about our ceiling in the basement. We just bought our home and I love the basement except for the horrible looking ceiling. What is the best way to conceal the ceiling.. or if necessary the best/most economical way to replace it???

Ohhhhh, the awful drop ceiling! Very useful, but Yikes!
Try turning the ceiling into a pressed metal!
We often take squares of embossed wallpaper (paintable, textured wallpapers can be bought at Lowe's or any home improvemetn store), and paint them with metallic paints in a variety of colors depending on the look the homeowner is after. i.e. tin, copper, bronze. The paint is water-based and easy to use.
