Hello! We had our home built five years ago. Right when we were doing the walk through we noticed a crack in the basement floor. The crack is about 1/4 of an inch wide and approx ten feet long and it is slightly uneven in spots. The builder said that is normal and not to worry. The crack has not moved at all and there hasn't been any problems with it. BUT.....we now have our home on the market and want to know if this is something we should pursue with the builder or should it not be a problem with the inspector?

Hi Kristi,

Just an opinion here, and you'll probably hear from others who disagree--so just a humble opinion, OK?

If I was in your position, I wouldn't do anything except note it on your seller's disclosure form.

Remember that no house is perfect. Good luck with your move!

Regards,

Hi Kristi,Your builder is correct that this is normal.I've had two houses built and all have cracks as do all of my neighbors. Also, you should'nt have to disclose it as it is an expected occurance in any poured concrete foundation.

Good Luck!
