Since finishing off our basement this past March, we have an odor in one of our rooms which also houses a sewer ejector pump. My husband closed it off (to look like a cabinet)but the odor still lumes. We have in floor heat throughout the basement, the smell travels out to an ajoining room, however, it does not appear to be in a room right next to it (which is my son's bedroom that's been finished off for years). My husband has been up in the false ceiling, making sure nothing is up there, and when he searched around the pump itself, the smell doesn't seem to be coming from there. When we close up the cabinet, and open it though, the smells seems to be coming from that area. Could it possibly be a problem with our in-floor heat system? The smell reminds me of the same odor that you smell when you squish an asian beetle (there are quite a few in this room, usually lying dead around the egress window.) We thought maybe there was a nest of them, dead, in the wall or something? Possibilites? Solutions? Advice? All would be greatly appreciated, now we finally have a nice, finished basement to enjoy, but no one wants to be down there because of the smell. Thanks for your time.
