I know water takes the path of least resistance, but this first, new leak, apparently in my foundation has me stumped. Recently, we saw water in one small area in a finished basement. The wet spots are close together but, the wall to wall carpet is wet in separate areas. The baseboard is dry, the adjoining tile kitchen is bone dry and i can't see the actual wall because of paneling and a finished closed ceiling.
It's my guess that I've got a cracked foundation thats weeping water, but when I sucked up the water in the rug, it was full of sand. There is sand high above the foundation under the deck in that area, but how would it get through? Is the sand a tip off that it is the foundation that's cracked? Who's best to call for evaluation? thank you
