I have just bought a house with a rotten basement subfloor. It was covered with carpet and furniture so the inspector couldn't tell, although it did smell musty. It turns out that it is a wooden subfloor laid into the dirt. What has to be done to fix this problem and how much is this going to cost me?

Thanks in advance!

This is a big issue and will cost you a lot of money.

The first requirement is to demolish the entire existing floor and haul away the debris.

Next item is to install floor vapor barrier and install concrete base floor, or install vapor barrier and install treated subfloor.
