I've been told conflicting stories about central air conditioning for the basement. Some say that the central air will keep the humidity down by itself while others say that you may have to lower the temp. too much before it makes much of a difference. I was also told that some people use both a dehumidifier and air conditioning together. Is there such a thing that has it all in one unit? Is there one best way?

Every house is different as is every situation. Different factors will play a roll in your situation. Natural relative humidity, basement size and openess and if it is a finished basement, was drywall used or paneling...etc.

What works for one basement may not work for another.
