Our home was built in 2004. We are going to begin finishing our basement and would like to apply a Venetian Plaster directly onto our poured walls.

Question - Our thought is this is a safer application in the unlikely (fingers crossed) event we ever have water problems (as opposed to stud/drywall). True or False?

If true, aside from cleaning the walls, do we need to do anything to treat/prepare the surface before applying the texture?
