I installed a regular toilet in my basement a few years back which has gotten very little use. My sister-in-law moved in with us a month ago and has been staying in the basement, thus using the toilet quite a bit. Yesterday, she screamed for help as the toilet was not flushing and water was pouring over the seat. I checked the basement drain and all kinds of unmentionables were coming up from that drain. It was quite the mess. My question is, I think the bathroom drain connects to the basement drain and then to the main drain to the lateral. How can I unclog the bathroom and basement drain? and do I need to install a special toilet? I can tell the previous owner jackhammer the concrete floor to connect the bathroom drain to the basement drain. Not sure how it connects to the main, though. Any help?
