I have a mildewy finished 235 sq foot basement which is lined with wall to ceiling enclosed book cases and which once had a glued to the cement rug that I pulled 30 years ago and replaced with a pad and rug which has just been thrown out.I sanded the glue swirls as best we could to make the cement clean enough to be covered by something. So, far this is what we had done: washed the walls to rid the surface of mildew spots, put in a nutone 120cfm fan in the bathroom. We will be covering the cement with a thin layer of new cement and covering the floor with Armor seal tred plex epoxy paint/sealant, installing a Tjernlund basement duel 180cfm fan with a humidastat between the ceiling joists and venting it out the wall. I cannot afford a Humidex or Ezbreathe fan or to dig a trench around my foundation and create more drainage. The house is built on clay and is just mildewy smelling. I need suggestions as to whether this is rational? Is there more that I can do? Different approach? Does any one know the products that I have mentioned. Regards
