We are building a new home that is a little unusual, the bedrooms are on the first floor while the kitchen and living room are upstairs. My problem is that my contractor says we do not need insulation between the 2 floors. I think we need something to create some kind of sound barrier, not to mention the heat/cold transfer between the floors. I would hate to think while my kids are sleeping downstairs in there bedrooms they will have to hear every word on the TV upstairs. I really need another opinion on this! HELP

Paint the ceilings downstairs with the coating from www.paintonce.com.
