My 5 year old home has raised construction on blocks approximately 3 feet off the ground - a common construction type in New Orlans. Last winter, my first winter in the house, I noticed that the floors are very cold, especially aound where water pipes enter the house. There is no insulation of any time under the house & the opening is open. Before I start calling contractors for estimates, I'm trying to gather some information about what would be the best type of insulation. I'm not sure about batt type insulation, since it seems to be a convenient nesting place for rodents. Would a blow-in type insulation be better? Or something else.
