We have a New England Balloon frame house with no Insulation on the outer walls. We plan on adding insulation soon...

My current question... there is no block of air flow from the basement to the attic so all heat from the basement seems to go right up. Can the openings above the foundation to the framing be 'sealed' with insulation?

It can with the spay foam insulation but be sure they use the formula that expands slowly or could get some wall damage from excessive expansion.
